It is generally recognised that the j Wellington cricket eleven will be meeting in the Canterbury team the strongest opposition that it will come up against in this season's Plunket Shield series. In view of Wellington's! convincing win against Auckland, and j Canterbury's success' against Otago, j despito a great effort by tho latter! team to save the day, both teams -will j take the field confident of victory, and j some great cricket should result. The southern team, which arrived from the | South this morning, will be as follows: M. L. Page (captain), J. L. Kerr, I. M. Hamilton, A. W. Roberts, I. B. Cromb, S. G. Lester, J. L. Powell, W. E. Merritt, K. C. Burns, J. T. Burrows, F. Bellamy, C. G. Crawford (12th man). Tho Wellington team will be: T. C. Lowry (captain), C. S. Dempster, W. Dustin, W. Hepburn, H. M. M' Girr, H. N. Lambert, K. C. James, R. Crook, H. B. Massey, M. Henderson, J. Newman, J. R. Lamason (12th man). The match is to commenco at tho Basin Reserve to-morrow morning, and will be continued on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. Tho hours of play for each day will be as follows: 11 a.m. till 1 p.m.; 1.45 p.m. till 3.45 p.m.; 4 p.m. till ■'. p.m.
