POSSIBLE HEAT WAVE
New Zealand,'s weather is at prosent influenced by &n anti-cyclone, the intensity of which is decreasing. Winds ivci-o mainly southerly yesterday, and are still j-'rom ihjU quarter in the Auckland Peninsula. South of Auckland, however, winds are now more variable, noi'therlies boing -the - rule. Light showers fell yesterday on the East Coast- of the South Island and in the I'ovoaux Strait aroa, but otherwise lino, weather porsisted. Auckland yesterday had' a rallior cloudy morning,' but the afternoon and night woro' fine, A moderate southerly wind prcvailort there. There was very little- wind in Wellington yesterday, a light northerly in tho morning giving placa later to;a light southerly. Tho dny was very flno and pleasant, In 'Ohristehurch .the'weather became dull during yesterday afternoon, the winds being varlablo. Some light ynln foil there early this morning. In Duneuin changeable and rather cool weather was experienced yesterday. Tho forecast issued to-day . is one which should'be welcomed by those anticipating an outdoor holiday tomorrow.
