Of main interest to the Wellington racing public to-morrow "v% ill be the opening day of the Wairarapa Racing Club's Summer Meeting at Tauhcrenikau, when good j cards will be presented in all events. The course should be fast, and in fine racing order. Form shown during the last few days is likely to provide a satisfactory clue to the majority of the races. .The'first race is due-to start at .moon. It is likely, however, that the Champion Hack Handicap will b« her mission. In her absence the bestTnay prove to be Rotation,' Zeebragge, and' Alpinist. The first-named has not raced during the holidays, but showed promise at Wbodville. Zephyrus and Patearoa are- other prospects. A likely pair are Rotation and Alpinist. Late Jest will not be on-hand for the Nursery Handicap, as he was kicked at Awapuni, and the best form among those left is probably held by Sir Pombal, Mister Quex, Michael Aagelo, and Fleeting, Glance. Prince Pombal would need1 consideration, on his second to Posy at Tren■tham in the spring, but a -week or so agor he -was not ■' galloping well. The besi of the new blood may bo Clangor and Fusion, the first-natned espetiially being likely 'to race well. Good efforts should be coming from the Sir Porabal-Gaysong bracket and Clangor.' It is too much to expect that Arrow Lad will be allowed to steal a march on the .field again, and in any case hiaf weight should be sufficient to check him. The best recent form is held by Joie de Val, Winsome Hind, Arajean, Childstudy, and Eminent. Joie de Val, who will be ridden by A. E. Ellis, looks the likeliest prospect among this bunch. Winsome Hind's second in an open event at Awapuni is a definite recommendation, but the next race may be her misi'ion. Childstudy is nicely placed, but was sore after winning at Awapuni, and it is reported that he will not be on hand. Amon<? the fresh_blood- there are decided prospects in Cfay Court, Lyrical, and Retract. Gay Court will be one of the hardest to beat with-a good rider aboard.
