Nightmare had to be ridden out to catch Appledore in the Katihiku Handicap, but there was a lot of merit in the performance, as she was conceding' 181b to her rival, who proved her most troublesome opponent, and when she, paraded she looked to be in need of a race. Appledore and Arrowzone led Nightmare to tho straight, and at the distance it appeared that Appledore was going to stick on, but tlie mare responded to her rider's call, and wore the leader down to wiii by a good neck. Eminent was a length and a,half back third, with Arrowzone and Acmil right up and Movietone next. Joie de Val, badly away from a flag start, was always last.
