RETURNING BY BOAT
(Received 9th October, 1.3d p.m.) LONDON, Bth October. Dr. Symonds, nerve specialist, told Kingsford Smith that he had imposed too great a strain on his system, and refused to sanction his returning under three months. Smith is, discussing with his wife by. telephone . whether he should leave for Australia immediately by steamer with a view to his re-attempting the double record or his wife should come to England, remaining for the winter. The Vacuum Oil Company reports that in radio telephone conversation with his wife in Melbourne, Kingsf ord Smith stated that his doctors had forbidden him to fly for four' months. He is returning' to Australia by steamer. LINK WITH AUSTRALIA LONDON, Bth October. Kingsf ord Smith is consulting with Imperial Airways as to the prospect of linking up the Indian Air Mail with AustraUa. He is confident, that such a service would pay for itself if subsidised for one year. Less than £50,000 would be sufficient.
