HUTT VALLEY PRODUCERS
The monthly meeting of the executive committee of tho Hutt Valley Producers' Association was hold recently? Mr v F. Roeves (president) being in the chair. Thoro was a full attendance of members. A motion of condolence and sympathy was passed to Mr. A. J. Tilbury in his recent bereavement. -Mr. F. Feretti was elected vice-presi-dent. The Director of the Horticulture Division wrote asking for living specimens of the tomato stem borer insect, and for information of its first appearance in the Hutt Valley. It was decided to reply that so far there had been no sign of'the pest, but growers are asked to adviso the association of its appearance. In !this connection growers are advised to spray with arsenate of lead, lib to 40 gallons. - For the reason that thoy are easy to make, easy to handle, that growers will get used to packing them, and there will bo less wastage, and that the prices of tho cases are lower, it was decided to approve of tho suggested sizes for the standardisation of tomato cases. • ' . .
