"BADLY LET DOWN"
"I came in as a supporter of the United Party, but I feel that I have been badly let down by my party." In these words, Mr. E. F. Healy, member for Wairau, made his final reference this morning to the decision of the House of Representatives to support, the recommendation of the Government Railways Board that the Sonth Island Main Trunk line should not be proceeded with.
"I.have been placed in a position I do not like to be placed in," said Mr. Healy. "However, I have done my duty by the district which Is came here to represent. I have always endeavoured to support my party on matters which I considered right, but I could not support the action of the board. The people of Marlborough will receive the news this morning with very bad grace indeed, and they will be unanimous in the opinion that I havo been badly let down by tny own party."
