MEETING PAYMENTS DUE | THEODORE ANNOUNCES j CANBERRA, 7th October. Mr. E. G. Theodore, the Federal Treasurer, announced in the House of that the New South Wales Government is meeting its interest payments fully as they fall due, and the action instituted by the Commonwoalth for the recovery of the State's indebtedness has been discontinued. The total apiouht due by New South Wales is '£4,559,434. New South Wales, he added, had discounted Treasury bills to provide this amount, and had paid the proceeds to the Commonwealth. Mr. J. G. Latham, Deputy-Leader of the Opposition, interjected: "So Mr. Lang has climbed down." Mr. Maxwell, another member of ! the Opposition, remarked: "Yes, since the revolution."
