AUSTRALIA'S EXAMPLE
MODEL FOR BRITAIN
LONDON, 6th October. Lord Stonehayen, in a lively address to the Authors' Club on Imperial problems, emphasised that there is a now orientation in Australia —a realisation by the average man and woman that the Australia of recent_ years has been living in a false paradise. '' The Englishman can only pray that the same realisation will come here," he said. "The particular typo of difficulty Britain is facing is most pronounced in those parts of the Empire whore Parliament has taken the biggest hand in interfering with the lives of the people. "When I returned from Australia in December it was perfectly obvious that we were following straight down the road which lauded Australia in a mess, but she has shown amazing capacity in pulling herself together and has displayed a national self-sacrifice which Britain may well copy when seeking a. way out of her existing troubles."
