AS LABOUR MEMBER
NOT FOR SELF ALONE
WILL HELP OTHERS
(British Official Wireless.) (Received 7th October, 1 p.m.) BTJGBY, 6th October. Mr. Mac Donald will again contest his old constituency at Seaham Harbour, in Durham. Despite the resolution of the local delegates' meeting, passed by a majority of one, disapproving bis action in becoming head of tho National Government, he has been again nominated as candidate and assured of support. His candidature has also been invited by several other constituencies. The Prime Minister said to-day: "I remain a Labour member and I shall fight as a Labour candidate. ■ I shall use the colours of the Labour Party in whatever constituency I go." During the next three weeks' campaign he will speak in several constituencies besides his own, including that of his son, Mr. Malcolm MacDonald and that of Mr. J. H. Thomas, Dominions Secretary, who, despite the attitudo of the local Labour executive, will again contest Derby. Mr. Baldwin will address the Birmingham Conservatives on Friday, and intends to urge the need for national unity and a National Government at this time. It is probable that some arrange-j meats will be made in. constituencies j
to avoid three-cornered contests. Such arrangements will largely depend upon local conditions.
