CHARGE OF MURDER

KILLING CHILD BY GUNFIRE

NEW YORK, 6th October. The police over the week-end captured and a New York county grand jury to-day—after half an hour's deliberation —returned first degree murder indictments against Vincent Coll, a young gang leader, Frank Giordano, his associate, and three other unnamed men. They were charged with killing a child. The gangsters and several women companions wero captured in a New York hotel, which was a veritable arsenal.

On 29th July, gangsters seeking to kill a rival on a New York street, indiscriminately fired a machine-gun into a crowd of playing children, wounding five, one fatally. The miscreants escaped in an automobile. A 5000----dollar reward was offered for their capture.
