ELECTION DATE
MR. H. E. HOLLAND'S QUESTION
The absence of any reference to the General Election in the supplementary Budget was commented upon by Labour members in the House of Representatives last night, and attempts were made during the debate on the Customs resolutions to draw a statement from the Prime Minister (the Eight Hon. G. W. Forbes). "I would like to ask the Prime Minister if the elections will bo held at the usual time," said the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. H. X Holland) after the Prime Minister had moved the adjournment of the House. "The Minister of Finance cannot tell us anything in regard to the matter, which we know has boon under consideration. I suggest that the Prime Minister should let us know what the intentions of the Government are." "I will make ;i statement at the earliest possible opportunity," replied Mr. Forbes. Mr. Holland: "To-morrow?" Mr. If. T. Armstrong (Labour, ChristI'hureh East): "Js it confidential1?" ! (Laughter.)
