ASSOCIATION
VISIT FROM AUSTRALIA
GRANTS TO CLUBS
At last evening's meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association Mr. Graves expressed the opinion that it would not be possible for a New Zealand team to pay a return visit to Australia in the latter part of next season, in the event of an Australian team coming to the Dominion early in the season. It was suggested, however, that a return visit could be made early in the following season, and this proposal was included iv a letter to be sent to the Australian Football Association. In connection with tho Australian visit, it was decided to write stating that a fully representative team, of fourteen men, with one manager, was required. The team should be fully equipped before leaving. All expenses in New Zealand would be paid. The team should leave early in the season, allowing for a tour of five playing Saturdays, returning about the middle of May. Mr. B. Salmon said that the tourists would be able to play one Saturday in each of the four centres, with a return visit to Wellington. It was considered that three tests should be played, Mr. Graves stating that tha word "test" seemed to have a fascination, for the public. The Northern sub-committee of the Taranaki Football Association wrote in connection with the proposal to form a new asoociation in New Plymouth. In answer to the council's suggestion that the headquarters of the Taranaki Association be transferred to New Plymouth, the sub-committee stated that it was considered that such a move would not overcome the difficulties. The chairman (Mr. F. Campbell) said there was something in the suggestion that the controlling body should be situated in New Plymouth, where there were four teams. It would be better to have a proper sub-association in New Plymouth, with fuller power than at present. It was decided to write to the sub-com-mittee suggesting a special meeting to settle the matter constitutionally, and pointing out that the council has no power to order a change. It was decided to refund to clubs taking part in the semi-finals and final of tha Chatham Cup the whole of their out-of-pocket travelling expenses, amounting to approximately £50 over the £100 originally decided upon. A further grant of £5 was made to the South Island Primary Schools' Tournament Committee, bringing the total to £25, the amount granted to the North Island Primary Schools Committee. The following players will represent the Port Nicholson Silver Band in an Association football match with the Municipal Tramways Band on Saturday next at the Kilbirnie Stadium at 3 p.m.:—L. Burley, E. Onm-od, C. Flood, R. Brown, J. M'Lellan (captain), W. Hambly, R. Hylton, H. Parsonage, R. Fenton, F. Ormrod, L. Middlemass; reserves, J. J. Drew, C. Eades, A. 0. Kaye.
