RIDER'S BIG RETAINER

LONDON, 4th October Gordon Richards, the. champion jockey, has contracted to ride for.,tlio Beckhainpto'ii stable next Beason, and is to receive a retaining fee of £4000, .plus 10 per cent, of tho stakes won by horses he rides. The stable this year won over £75,000 in stake-money. Assuming it is equally successful in 1932, Richards will receive £11,000. He will be at ■liberty to, ride, for other stables in races in which Beckhainpton is not.represented, ensuring at least an additional £2000,' as there is a big demand for his servicesT Thus there is a prospect of his total income being .£17,00.0, the highest in the history of raeiiig.
