A FINE WEEK-END '
WELCOME ANTI-CYCLONE Except that ix fresh northerly wind is likely to blow to-morrow, with conditions becoming cloudy, Wellington can look'forward to a lino week-end, with a change in the weather likely early next week. .Yesterday's' unpleasant conditions were associated with a slight which was moving eastward of Cook Strait. The cyclone has completely disappeared from the weather chart, and the Dominion is now covered by a/ woll-developed anti-" cyclone. Scattered rain fell yesterday in the North Island and in tho northern districts of tho South Island, with strong southerly winds. Light showers were also reported last night from Fovcaux Strait, but most of the South Island had fair weather. During tho night conditions improved and this morning nearly all parts of tho country weto experiencing brilliantly fino weather with light winds and more pleasant temperatures than tho cold ones which ruled yestcrdny. Auckland hud n strong, squally, westerly wind yesterday with cloudy and hazy conditions. It was a cold, unsettled day at Wellington, a strong southerly wind blowing, with light rain. The weather, however, improved during the night. The total rainfall was 10 points, while Lower Hutt bad 54 points. At Ghristchurch. tho day was a cold one with a south-westerly wind. Tho morning was dull, but during the afternoon conditions cleared. A slight frost was registered there last night. Dunedin experienced finei sunny weather, with but little wind. x The forecast is for light and variable winds, north of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, gradually tending to northerly; elsewhere moderate southerlies prevailing, and later freshening. Tho weather is likely to be flue generally, with rising temperatures; cloud, however, increasing in the western and far southern districts of the Soutli Island, where later rain is likely to develop.
