The net pro- J« peeds of the Junior, Eed Cross and' Civi- J, ian Blind stall at the Winter Show were ,[ about'£2l. An. appeal was being-made Ji for'suitablo old clothes to bo sentJ^o. «| the Tiirakina. Maori. Girls*' College; where , they would be made intogarments\t6 be ■ aistributed among poor Maori children. , Various school circles had -made ,and were ■ making efforts-to secure funds and goods ■ for the relief of distress. • ~ , " .". 'In the report of the Ladies Auxiliary ■ it was stated that Mrs. Waite had resign- ■ ed from the office of president and the J vacancy had been' filled by Mrs. Grant. , Other..,officers elected were; Vice-prcsi- ■ dent, Mrs. .Murray;.secretary, Mrs. I/, h. • Ellen; investigator, . Mrs. Hepplewaite. , Many applications for relief were receiv- ■ ■ed duringthe inoiith in the way of boots, ■ clothing, etc., but: unfortunately there J were not the necessary goodsrto" satisfy , the demands. The following articles had- i 'been distributed during the month: Lay-. j ettes, 6; clothing, etc., 580; boots; and , shoes, 42 pairs) 12yds; of new flannelette ;■ and two perambulators. .' ; . With regard, to the Lower Hutt branch. ■ it was stated that the stock of clothing j was practically....depleted, and ..to'^ enable J the work to be. continued donations of ■ clothing would be welcomed.
