NEW YORK BANK MERGER.

NEW YOKK, 2nd October. Mr. Charles E. Mitchell, president of the National City Bank of New York, and of the National City Company, has announced the forthcoming merger of his firm with the Bank of America, v^hich will then form the second largest banking organisation in the world, with combined resources as on 30th June of 2,311,400,908 dollars. This compares with the Chase National Bank (New York) figure at the same date of more than 2,420,000,000 dollars. I The Bank of America-Blair Corporation and the American Bank of California will i be excluded from the merger. [ 1 The Bank of America, New York, was established in 1812, and its head office is in New York, its branches being confined to New York City and Brooklyn.
