WORK FOR GIRLS

During the threo weeks ended Ist October, 74 women and girls registered as unemployed at the Y.W.C.A. friendly service bureau. Fifty positions, 24 of a permanent nature, 13 of a temporary nature, and 13 for daily work, were filled. Of those registered, GO per cent, represented domestic workers, 30 per cent, shop and office workers, 8 per cent, industrial workers, and 2 per ceut. professionals. 'Tho total number of registrations since tho inception of the bureau now stands at 1074. The association wishes to acknowledge with gratitude all offers of work, especially those for clerical positions and doinostie work by tho day. Although only two cases of destitution have been met' with during tho past tlirud weeks, all women and girls show an eagerness to secure employment, and t,ho association looks to the public for a continuance of its patronage.
