(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, 2nd October.

A sequel to the robbery at Raglan on Wednesday night, when a safe and other articles were stolen from the Northern Steamship Company's office, was the finding by, the polico this afternoon of .the safe in the Okete Stream, four Mies from Raglan. It had been blown open and was empty. A number of. halfcrowns and florins and some cheques were found. . ■ A clue to the whereabouts of the safe was obtained in an unexpected manner. Yesterday afternoon Mrs. C. Hird, of Mangatawhiri, happened to be visiting the home of Constable O'Sullivan. When she heard of the burglary she told the constable of an experience which her husband had had the night before. He was walking to his home at Mangatawhiri, and was overtaken by a ■sedan motor-car a mile and a'half out from Raglan. On the carrier of the car he noticed a box-shaped object covered with a tarpaulin. Pour miles from Raglan, on the Raglan-Te Mata clay road, he heard an explosion ahead of him. A sedan car was standing.at the side of the road, and Mr. Hird inquired what was wrong, asking if he could help. A man" who had emerged from the'scrub on the side of the road answered that everything was all right. Mr. Hird went home and thought no more of the incident. He thought he saw a woman seated in the car.
