NEW ZEALAND TEAM
ITS PLAY PRAISED
Interesting observations on th« performance of the" New Zealand cricketers in England were made by the Hon. Dr. W. E. Collins, M.L.C., who. returned to Wellington to-day after an extensive trip abroad. ■'. •' Interviewed by a " Post" reporter, Dr. Collins, who is a keeri follower of cricket, said he was very much impressed with the way the New Zealanders played. He considered that they held their and up well. The match against the M.C.C. was an "eye-opener," and it put New Zealand "on the map" as far as cricket was concerned. ; ,
The first Test showed the team's wonderful batting power. In fact, Dr. Collins said he considered New Zealand's was as good a batting side as there was in England. The bowling and ground fielding were rather weak. Generally the team played1 excellent cricket. Dr. Collins paid a tribute to the capability of Lowry as' captain of the side. "He was a very fine captain," he said, "and handled matters in a way pleasing to see."
