STOLEN PAY ROLL
POLICE BACK ON JOB

EOTOBUA, Ist October.
While probing the ground within a few yards of the spot where a large portion of the stolen Public Works payroll of £2158, burgled from the office safe at Murapara camp on 4th May, was discovered by a Maori forestry worker on 4th September, two workmen on Wednesday afternoon struck something hard, and found it was a roll of notes., of different denominations. : A further search revealed approximately £40 buried beneath the roll of notes. It comprised silver, notes, and coppers.
The find was immediately reported, and Detective White, of Hamilton, and Constable Eoberts, of Botorua, proceeded to Marupara to investigate.
The. police are'very reticent. They refuse to disclose the amount of money still missing.
