USEFUL FIELDS CARDED
PROSPECTS IN REVIEW
Most of the horses engaged at the Napier Park Racing Club's Spring Meeting at . Greenmeadows to-morrow are trained in the. district, but they represent good average class, and should provide an interesting day's sport. The fields are of » handy size. The programme and prospects are:— PRINCE OF WALES STAKES, of 75 sots; for . two-year-olds; four furlongs. ■ st lb Bt lb Royal Highness 8 5 Cassadora .... 8 0 Pillow Fight. 8 5 Margaret Bose 8 0 Mister Quex .. 8 5 Gold Trail .. 8 0 Courtyard ... 85 Duex Francs ..80 Speed . 8 5 Grumpy .... 8 0 Swift and Sure 8 5 None of the horses in the Prince of Wales Stakes, the two-year old event, have yet raced, but several have shown promise in their track work. -Pillow Fight, by Night Raid from Economist's dam, Week-end, is the best spoken of, and is likely to be favourite. Royal Highness and Swift and Sure should also be supported, and so may Grumpy, the best of the Greentrieadows youngsters. A likely pair are Pillow Fight and Swift and Sure. Lady Makere has the best record, and is likely to be one of the favourites. Her main opposition'may come from Gold Mag, Monarchy", and Flakewhite. Gold Mag's recent track work has been very attractive. The public may select Gold Mag and Lady Makere.: GREENMEADOWS HACK HURDLES, of 100 sots; one mile and a half. .' st.'lb. St. lb. M. Cameron and accepted in preference to. Goshawk. Royal Elm's recent schooling bouts have been good. Two others ■who should race wejl are Warzone and Kaokaoroa, and there is a lightweight prospect in the speedy Luna. Lux, who is Reported to be very fast in liis fencing. Favourable chances appear ..to be held by Royal Elm and Warzone. PARK STAKES, of 135 soya; one mile and a quarter, •t. lb. St. Ib. Chopin and Rory. Mor hold the -best credentials of the others, but little is known about their form. Phar Lap's sister, Nea Lap, has been working well enough, but often takes a lot out of herself before the start. The winner may •• come- from .Briar Root and Nea Lap. Handicap should not be a diiSeult race for a forward horse to win, and Brambletorn has indicated satisfactory form in recent track trials. Moa Bird and Goshawk may give him chief bother. Rory Mor, if reserved for this event, may also take a hand in the finish. Good efforts should be produced by Brambletorn and Moa Bird. RAIL WAT HANDICAP, of 110 sots; six furlonti. st.lb. at. Ib. Juggle is the best seasoned, and is nicely weighted, but Manifesto, Great Charter, and Head Serang will all be backed to beat her. Manifesto is reported to have been working attractively at. Greenmeadows. A good race may find the most prominent at the finish being ■ Manifesto and Juggle. , COUNT! HACK HANDICAP, of 80 sots; i seven furlongs. ' , - st. lb. . st. lb. The two fittest horses to parade for the County Hack Handicap will probably be Charmatine and Childstudy, and if anything can beat tliem he should pay a dividend. Acmil would be in the fight if ready; but she has not raced for eight months. Niggerhead is a maiden from . whom big things are expected, but it may ,be too early yet. The final placings are likely to include Childstudy and Charmaiine. ■ . ■
