NE\T YOKK, 29th September; Mr. .Calvin Coolidgo, former United States President, has caused a political sensation with an article in the "Saturday Evening Post" disptlling the rumours that he would permit himself to bo "drafted" for the Presidency. Commenting on his "I do not choose to run" statement of 1927, he writes: "Why should it be supposed that what I was then seokiug to escape I am now seoking to acquire?" He continues: "It has long been the practice to give the President, in office a second nomination. Any other course is open to grave objections." He concludes with an exhortation -to the United Eepublican Party to support President Hoover. In August, 1927, when pressure was brought on him to stand again at the next year's Presidential election, President Coolidge handed out to tho Press a laconic typewritten message.
