OBITUARY
MR. P. C. FREETH
The death occurred, in a private hospital at Wellington early this morning of Mr. P. C. Freeth, one of the best* known journalists in New Zealand. The late Mr. F^reeth was born in Featheroton 62 years ago, and was a son of the late Mr. Joseph Freeth, .who hold the position of Clerk of the Magistrate's Court'in the Wairarapa district for many years. Mr. Freeth began his journalistic career on the "Wairarapa Daily Times." In order to gain experienco he, tried his fortunes in Australia, and for some 'time was ■on a newspaper at Peniith, NeWv. South Wales. Returning to New Zealand after some years, he took up a position on the Carterton "Observer," later serving on the 4'Napier Daily Telegraph," the- "New , Zealand Times," and "Manawatu Daily Times." Leaving.the last-named paper, he went for a world tour," and on his return to New Zealand he was appointed editor of the "New Zealand Times."" On tho, termination of that appointment- he '.returned to Pahnerston North for a period, and later'was appointed to.a position in Christchurch.The late Mr.' Freeth, who enjoyed the esteem of a .wide circle of friends in Wellington and in other parts of the Dominion,." is,, survived by his widow, two sons—Mr. Hugo' Freeth, of the literary staff of tho "Sydney Morning Herald," and Mr..Vincent Freeth,. a well-known business.man of Wellington —and two daughters—Mrs. Bowringi. of Christchurch,'and Mrs. Moss, of' Wellington.' i^m—■•
