BRILLIANT AUTOPAY

CONFOUNDS HIS CRITICS

(From "Vedette.") SYDNEY, 24th Septembor. The owners of Autopay timed their arrival in Sydney to a nicety. Mr. N. E. Aitken beat his partner, Mr. H. F. Wood, by a week to see Autopay beaten badly in the Tramway Handicap. They decided before Saturday's Eosehill Meeting that only an experienced rider could do the colt justice in the Camellia Stakes. Accordingly they secured M. M'Carton, with such good reault that the same rider may agrco to tako tho mount in the Epsom Handicap. At Kosehill Autopay began very smartly and led from start to finish. About a furlong from homo Goshawk's brother, Burracootboo, tried to go up to him, but Autopay pulled out that extra Tait of dash to give him victory. He battled on well at the end of the seven furlongs, but had had enough. Just whether he will see out the mile remains to bo tested. It does not look as if he will beat Pentheus for one, but his brilliancy, combined js'ith M'Oarten's riding, should carry him a long way. He raced kindly enough, and was not really troublesome at the barrier. At the finish he could not have responded more generously when , asked for tho extra effort." Autopay at Eosehill was at great double figure odds/to which his owners helped themselves fairly liberally. In addition they supported Autopay in. doubles with Vigne, winner of the Eoschili» Cup. I.They; cannot lose now on the trip.
