MASKED MAN IN HOUSE

(By Telegraph.—Frew Association.) FEILDING, This Day.' There was a sensational affair at Halcombo last night.- A masked man was found in a house where the occupants roused the neighbour, Mf, K. Williams. The latter entered the house with a poker and saw a masked man. Mr. Williams hit him on-the face, but tho man escaped through a window. He was pursued by three men, one of whom carried a shot gun. Tho burglar was captured by ono of the pursuers, Mr. Davies, who secured a hammerlock, threw him, and held him till the others' arrived.- The burglar was lodged in the Halcombe railway station, and made a desperato attempt to escape before the police arrived. Eventually Constable Johnston, of Feilding, secured the man and placed him in the Feilding lock-up. The prisoner, a man named Isaac Johnston, a Maori of Kakariki, aged 22, will bo charged with breaking and entering, with intent to commit a crime.
