The Government's proposals to increase the rate of the family endowment tax and to make it applicable to all employers, whether they op. crate under Federal or State awards, passed all stages in the Legislative Assembly. Mr. Lang, the Premier, in Parliament, foreshadowed a dozen measures which he desired to have passed at one sitting to enable the House to go into recess. Opposition members protested against, the rush of legislation, and the Legislative Council refused to proceed with the programme outlined by the Vice-President. This Chamber refused again to sit all night, as the Assembly is doing.
