SHOOTING GALLERIES IN BARS

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. "Shooting galleries in the bars of hotels must be taken out. Bars are not for amusement, but for accommodating the public," declared Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., at the quarterly meeting of the Palmerston Licensing Committee, held at Palmerston North yesterday. Mr. Stout, presiding at the meeting, explained lhat the police report to the committee mentioned that several of these galleries had been introduced into hotel bars. "We do not consider that it is the proper place to instal these machines," reiterated the chairman, adding that they might be used for gambling. Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse: "I understand that tho licensees of the hotels concerned have agreed to take them out of the bars." "They should not be on the premises at all," added Mr. Stout.
