POSITION OF STATES
SELLING STOCK TO PUBLIC
LOAN COUNCIL MAY AGREE
(Received Stk September, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Owing to the possibility of the Commonwealth Bank Board refusing to advance more than a million pounds for developmental works, the Loan Council is considered certain to agree to allow the States to approach, the public for money by over-the-counter sales of stock. This will be a departure from the Premiers' agreement, but the Statet will not be allowed to raise more than their Budget quotas, and at interest rates specified by the council.
