PERFORMANCES DIFFER

(From "Vedette") SYDNEY, 3rd September. Two sons of Limond were prominent candidates at Warwick Farm on Saturday —Ammon Ra and Veilmond. Both were backed to decided odds on, and both wore ridden by M. M'Carten, but there the similarity ended. - Ammon Ra won the Hobartvillo Stakes like a tradesman, as easily Treating Flying Dave as the latter disposed, of the rest. Veilmond, on the contrary, was caught in one of his ungenerous moods in the Warwick Stakes. Ammon Ra drew the rails, and, although Segovia raced with him to the turn, it was only on sufferance. Flying Dave afterwards lodged a semblance of a challenge, but made practically no impression at all. Veilmond and Chide, 9st, and Johnnie Jason and Cypress,-7st 31b, the two last with a 51b allowance, were the main figures in the Warwick Stakes, one mile. Johnnie Jason, a three-year-old by Treclare from Sweet Rosaleen, led all the way. Over the last furlong Cypress, who bad gone very kindly, made a vigorous effort, and Johnnie Jason was all out to beat him by a head. This was Cypress's best effort to date, and was decidedly pleasing. Chide made a fast run round his field to gain third place. Veilmond again showed his aversion to the inside. When M'Carten pulled him to the outside just after entering the straight he floundered about and did' not go at all kindly.' He is undoubtedly a temperamental customer, and requires his own rules in races.
