Mrs. Bernard "Wood will Ichvo Wellington at (lie endoorlr this week for ;i mouth's visit to Eotorua. Sir James and Lady Allen, Dunedin, left Wellington at the end of the week for the South. Miss Joy Nicliolls, Cliristrliurt-li, who will be a debutante at the Government House ball on Thursday night, is the guest of Mrs. F. Symon, The Terrace. * The Hon. Richard Jloore and Mrs. Moore, Casbmero Hills, havo returned to Christchurcli from Wellington. Mrs. George Shirtcliffe, Tiuakori road, is visiting her mother, Mrs. \V. Priest, Timaru. Miss Helen Marchbanks, Hobson crescent, is visiting Napier, and will return to Wellington at the end of the week. Miss Lettice Loughnan, Christchureh, is visiting her parents at Otane, Hawkes Bay. Mrs. W, H. Gumbletoa and Miss Sheelagh Gumbleton, St. Albans,. Christcburch, arrived in Wellington this morning for a holiday visit. ■ Mrs. W. N. Perry, who has been paying a short visit to Wellington, will leave for .Christchurcb this evening. . Mrs. C. N. Tucker, who has been the guest of Mrs, "W. Waddel, Kclbum, re-turned-to Wanganui yesterday. Miss Nora M'Manus, an Auckland girl, who has been successful in the theatrical world, is understudying Miss Annie Croft in England for "The Chocolate Soldier." Miss M|Manus played the: lead iii "Whirled into Happiness" in Now Zealand in- 1926, and has also ppcarcd as lead in "Primrose." Miss Annie Croft was in .New Zealand with, the "Hit the Deck" Company. Miss Bcita Nugent, the dancer of several of J, C. Williamson's companies, who has been: doing well at Home, was recently married to an English actor, William Hall.- Since she last i appeared in New Zealand She haa appeared at the London.Hippodrome and in Germany m. <<;Mr. Cmders," her dancing "rousing .the attention of critics.
