LISTENERS' LEAGUE
(To the" Editor.) Sir, —As one- who for several years has been actively associated in a quite independent capacity with the operations of the Radio Broadcasting Company, I feel that the time has arrived to "call the bluff" of the so-called executive of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Listeners' League. You, Sir, have seen fit to give frequent, extensive, and extraordinarily prompt publicity to the utterances-and manifestoes of this organisation. It would apear. to be evident • that you have accepted these representations prima facie, without regard to the status and credibility of the source from which they emanate, a precaution which ought reasonably to bo expected of a journal of your standing. From knowledge . gained in my position as chairman of tho Honorary Musical and Dramatic Committee of 2YA, I confidently challenge disproof of my assertion that this organisation to which you are giving such prominenco has absolutely no right to speak for tho listeners of New Zealand. In common fairness I ask you to publish the following easily ascertainable facts:— When was the1 Wellington branch of the league formed? How many licensed listeners arc to-day paid-up members of the branch? What is-the total number of licensed listeners in Wellington and suburbs? Who are members of the executive* Who attended this morning's special meeting? Who drafted, and who submitted, the resolution? Who framed the statement! How many licensed listeners are there in the national membership of the league'? At what conference or general meeting was the Wellington executive empowered to make the representations on behalf of tho listeners of the Dominion? —I am, etc., ERNEST PALLISER. ' Wellington, 7th September.
