THOUGHT TO BE EXAGGERATED
(13y Telegraph.—•Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. In reference to the Fiji hurricane, an Auckland solicitor who recently returned from Ba states that the cable news that only two houses wcro left standing is highly improbable. The houses referred to as destroyed must be Indians dwellings on the river banks, as European residences were not subject to floods. The sugar cane centre oi! Drasa also was not liable to floods. The casualty figures appear doubtful. Ho docs not "know one centre, with only 158 residents. The majority employ thousands. , . The Colonial Sugar Company is advised that the lives lost total 106, including four Europeans.
