HEROIN FOR WAGES
DRUG SCANDAL IN EGYPT
OVERSEERS SENTENCED; ' x!:
CAIRO, 28th February. The police discovered that 30 dock labourers for months had been paid in heroin, while' the overseers pocketed their wages. Tho overseers were to-day convicted, one being sentenced to" three years' imprisonment ■; and fined £3400, and another to two years' imprisonment, with a fine of £300. > The labourers received quantities of heroin at each meal and wero provided with, ramshackle lodgings each night One overseer had 150 packets of tho drug in his possession when arrested.
