They are Bright Song, a three-year-old chestnut gelding by llunting Song from the Gazeley marc Brightly, and a yearling half-brother by Colossus to Bright Song, whom he Jiasi recently broken in. The former will carry Kyle's own colours, but the latter is owned by Mr. P. A. Findlay, who races Marjoram. t Also to Ride; R. Watson, a brother of L. H. Watson, has been granted a jockey's licence by the New Zealand Racing Conference and he intends to, make'his headquarters in Auckland. Watson can go to scale at 8.4 aud rides, both on the flat arid over hurdles. He has not ridden in New Zealand, but has had some experience .in India, where he rode a number of winners. • , P. V. Mason's Team. The Riccarton trainer, P. V. Mason, is keeping Jaloux, Pride, and Azalea in steady \ work, and it is .probable that Jaloux and Azalea -will be seen- out at the Banks Peninsula Meeting this week. The two-year-old. Dodge, who ran just a fair' race in the Lyttelton Plate at, Riccarton last Saturday Week, may be, gelded and given a good spell before being prepared for next season's engagements. ■ Yearling' Members. " ' \ \ Half a dozen yearlings are receiving attention in P. V. Mason's stable at present. They are the colt by Limond— Waterwings, and filly by Limond—Makepeace; bought at Tientham last montb, Tea Tray-La Paix filly, Pombal-Eulalie Iding, Agrion—Egotism filly, and Aerioti —Lucinda- gelding. A start has beeu made with their education. Shadow Passes Off. Since the occasion when Biplane was unable to be produced against Desert Gold at Awapuni, Mr. G. D. Greenwood has not raced, nor until last July had he entered a horse for any Manawatu Meeting. However, he engaged Dodge and Azalea for the classics at the Autnmn Meeting this year, and, although Dodge haa been thrown out o£ training, it is the hope of all true sportsmen that at least Azalea will race at the meeting and thus finally close the consequences of an incident that has robbed several Awapuni contests ol some of their potential interest. Did the Right Thing. . However disappointing he may have been during the last twelve months. Dolomite certainly did the right thing by Mr. H. Murphy in- winning the last race he Had in his' colours. After two seconds at tnc Marlborough Meeting he was produced a third time in the firtal race, the Awarna 1 Handicap, and he scored by a short head, incidentally registering his first winning bracket fcince he succeeded twelve months ago in the ' Marlborough Cup. -u° lla? now passed into the possession of the West , Coast owner and breeder, Mr. D. H. Roberts. New Apprentice Rider. A' pleasing feature of the racing at Blenheim last week was the successful riding of A. Goodman's apprentice, -L.- G-. bm-\ clair, who has had his full licence only for a month, and had had' on]y> a- couple of mounts' prior to last week.' Sinclair rode ! all thoi members of A. Goodman's team, thus showing the confidence placed in him, and he succeeded in bringing home a 1 winner each ' day,' Courtlike on the first 1 day and Dainty Ways in the main'race on i Saturday. ' Neither of these horses had I notched a 1 win for a considerable time. I Sinclair is a boy for, whom there'should' 1 shortly be - plenty of riding, i£ the early' promise he has so far shown is maintain-1 cd. '■ i Odds and Ends. : Acceptances for the Wellington Racing 1 Club's Autumn Meeting close at 9 o'clock on Friday evening. Acceptances for the Nelson Trotting!
