HUTT PARK TROTTING MEETING
Acceptances for the | special meeting of the Nelson Trotting Club, to be held at the Hutt Park on Saturday next! under the auspices of tlio Wellington Trotting Club, will close with Mr. B. W. Short, Pctone, at 8 p.m. to-morrow. j Among the visiting horses That arrived early in. view of Saturday's engagements 'are Surpriso Journey and Gunbourne. Both are looking fresh and well after their campaign at Auckland. The trotting maJe, Native Star, has remained at the Hutt since tho last meeting, and, although she i£ not carrying a great deal of condition, she is hifc-ting-out well,in her work. Lady Fan, which met with an accident on. return: ing from Christchurch last month, has been spelling in the paddock. She is now back in work1 and appears to be forward enough to run on Saturday next. Fifa,- which ran a good second to St. Pctrox at New Brighton on Saturday, escapes a penalty for her engagements in which sho should givo a good account of herself. As a result of his win in tho principal ovent at Now Brighton, : Kollo will now share tho back line with Purser on 72 yards behind in,tho Nelson Handicap on Saturday. Although Eollo's form is good the field he will have to meet- at the Hutt Park is a particularly strong one.' Bcllo Lorrimcr and "Willie Derby, second and third respectively to Lacation at New Brighton; recorded fast times over the mile and a half,'and will now havo a solid following in their engagements at the Hutt. Major Lind, which is on the limit in the Nelson Trotting Club Handicap, wag second to Maurice Dillon over a mile coutso at New Brighton, registering the good timo of 2min 15 2-ssec. As his engagement at tihe Hutt is over a 4.42 class it leaves him a good margin to run home his last mile. He runs in the same, interests as Colonial Boy, which made a good showing at tho last Wellington Meeting. Maurice Dillon has been brought back to 24 yards behind in the Waimea Handicap of a mile and a quarter', as a result of his win at Now Brighton. This should .servo to bring him back to Major Lind and Our George, who finished in the places. There is every prospect that, • given a fino day the special meeting staged for the benefit of the Nelson Trotting Club at tho Hutt Park on Saturday next will prove an outstanding success. The Wellington Trotting Club deserves good fortune for its effort to assist a .sister club to re-establish itself. I
