ACCIDENTS
CYCLE HITS LORRY
An accident of an unusual type occurred on the road in Taita Gorge at 7.20 p.m. on Saturday -when a motorcycle ran into the back of a lorry which was proceeding in tho samo direction. The rider of the motor-cycle, Athol -M'Kay, of 20, Putnam road, suffered severe head injuries, shock, and concussion.' The driver of the motor-lorry, .Edward Holmes, of Petone, had just restarted after filling up with petrol and had travelled about 30 yards when the accident occurred. When he stopped the lorry he found the motor-cyclist lying on the road in a dazod condition and bleeding from a. cut over an eye. After being attended to by a doctor, M'Kay was removed to tho Hospital, where he is reported to be making good progress. Goorgo Lilly, a schoolboy, who lives at Trafalgar street, Petone, fell from a motor-cycle at 7;50 p.m. on Saturday and injured his right knee. He was taken to tho Hospital by the City Ambulance. , Abrasions to tho forehead were sufferod by Charles Kron, a labourer living | in Kent terrace, as the result of being . knocked down by a motor-car when he stopped off a tram at the intersection | of Courtenay place and Tarnnaki street. at 10.10 p.m. yesterday. He was at-1 tended to by the City Ambulance and | removed to the Hospital.
Slight concussion and a. lacerated wound to the scalp were sustained by Frank Gallichar, of 5, Manly terrace, as the result of being struck by a sand truck at Lyall Bay this morning. He was taken to the Hospital by the City Ambulance.
