CHANGE IN WEATHER
SOUTHERLY SHOWERS
SLnco last night a depression has crossed" the Dominion, and by this morning the line of lowest pressure had moved to the eastward. As a result, winds havo backed tp tho south in the South Island, and early this morning they were- strong, on the East Coast south of Akaroa. Fino and warm weather was general yesterday, but in the night unsettled conditions developed very rapidly ;in western districts south of Taranlii. Rain has fallen in these parts, there being some heavy falls in the- southern part of the South-Island. Showers this moaning extended along the East Coast as. far north as Christehurch. ■
Both Auckland and AVellington experiencod a fine, warm, and sunny day yesterday, with a light northorly wind. In Christchurch it waa fine but cloudy. A north-easterly breeze freshened towards evening, and rain began to fall at 6.10 a.m. this morning. Up to 9 a.m. 43 points had been recorded. A fine morning in Dunedin was followed by a dull and showery afternoon. Heavy rain fell durhig the night. Southerly winds are likely •to bo general again, and to be strong later on parts of tho East Coast. Changeable, squally, and showery weather is forecasted, showers being heavy on parts of tho East Coast. Temperatures will become cold again.
