WELLINGTON TROTS

SATURDAY^AT HUTT PARK

As usual, the attractive programme framed for Saturday's meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club has drawn fields which promise a day's excellent sport. A glance at the acceptances should confirm 'that view. In the light harness arena big fields frequently do not provide the best contests. The field for the chief event of the day, the Champion Handicap, is select, if on the small, side, and with a short limit the race shouldj'Tesult in keen, even betting and an interesting finish. The two- events for unhoppled trotters, also, will add interest to the occasion. *The handicaps for slow-class pacers are, as* usual, well filled. ■;>■■■• *■■/••■

The progressive policy of the Welliiv;tffn. Trotting Club is assisting to popularise the sport in this centre. Kecent substantial improvements to the track and general appointments ensure increased comfort and convenience for patrons, and the, fact that the course is so easily reached from the'city is an extra inducement'1 id the sporting public to attend. Saturday's gathering will see many of Canterbury's leading horses, pacers and trotters, in commission, and it is the best horses which are the big draw card. Provided'the weather is on its . best behavkriny Hutt Park oh Saturday should be well patronised, if for no other reason than that the outing will t help to give a much-needed 'relaxation to many citizens.
