NO TRANSFER MADE YET
A meeting of the Central Earthquake Committee in connection with tho earthquake on the West Coast in Juno, 1929, was held yesterday. The chairman (the Prime Minister) explained that the meeting had been called primarily for the purpose of discussing the propriety of transferring the unused balance of the fund, approximately £10,000, to tho new fund now opened for the relief of distress caused by tho disastrous earthquakes in Hawkes Bay on the 3rd February, 1931. After a general discussion, it was decided that the claims on hand from churches arid other institutions should bo referred to''tho sub-committee for investigation and report to a later meeting of the Central Committee. Several other matters were also.: referred to the sub-committee for consideration. The committee decided that the question of transferring the balance of the fund bo allowed to remain in abeyance in the, meantime, and the proposal will bo brought, up for consideration at a later mooting 6f tiio committee.
