WASHINGTON, 9th February. Tho American Eed Cross has cabled 5000 dollars to New Zealand earthquake sufferers as a "gesture of friendship" following the receipt of this telegram from the Now Zealand Eed Cross: "Damage to life and property extensive. Glad to accept co-operation."
