The Ashburtoii "Guardian's" fund totals £ 1450, which includes the Ashburton County Council's £500 and the Ash burton Borough Council's £100. The passengers and crew of the /liner Rangitiki, en route to Southampton, collected £130—half being subscribed by tho passengers and half by the crow. The Lower Hutt .'Borough Council voted £250, and the Masterton County Council £100. An amount of £100 was also voted by the Wellington Trotting Club.'- ■ '■ ■■ - ;•■'
