JOKE AMIDST TRAGEDY
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, 10th February. Out of all the grimncss of the earthquake tragedy have come many stories of humorous incidents. A few nights ago a member of a picket, tired out after a long spell of 1,-itc hours, fell asleep on duty. By way of a practical joke other members of his group stole his truncheon. Pearing that sleep might get the better of him on the next night, he tied his truncheon to his wrist. He again fell asleep, but when he woke up ho found a tent pole attached to his wrist by a piece of string.
