ABANDONMENT APPROVED

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, 10th February. Mr: H. J. Guthrie, Eotary Governor of the 53rd district (New Zealand), states that the annual conference fixed for'Dunediri on 18th, 19th, and 20th February has been abandoned on a general vote of the clubs in the district, this action being taken in sympathy with'the sufferers in the Hawkcs Bay disaster. Mr. Guthrie cabled to Chicago for authority to take this step if necessary. The Rotary • bylaws stipulate that a conference must be hold, and it was imperative before abandonment of the meeting could be decided upon to obtain authority from headquarters in Chicago.
