LOAN COUNCIL TO RESCUE

SYDNEY, 10th February. In order to prevent New South Wales from defaulting in the payment of £831,000 interest due to-day ou the State Government 5J per cent. 1934 bonds, the Loan Council has agreed to back Treasury Bills for £469,000. Thus this State will be able to meet its commitments in a way which emphasises the desperate condition of its finances.
