■ For the fiist day of the Taranaki Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting, which opens to-morrow and concludes on Saturday; the acceptances are good throughout, and the racing should be extremely: interesting. Form at llawera may not be an altogether satisfactory index, as the fields at New Plymouth have been considerably augmented, particularly by Auckland : worses, and the class on the whole is i higher. The top weight Concentrate', is nicely treated, but lack of voik and a rush trip north may mean his not being able to show his best. For these reasons, three others in Otairi, In the Shade, and Vertigern are preferred to him, and if they fail to hold the Cup among them, the one to oust them will probably comel from the second half of the list. -• Beat of these read to be Royal, Parade and Chopin, each of whom has excellent prospects of capturing the prize. Both are running out hack nominations, and will be keenly sought by investors. Three who have shown form recently and will also havo jrood support are Tea Queen, Chief Savp.ge, and Anbridge, and they look to contain the possible upsetting clement. Chief S.ivagc is capable of doing better than ho did at Egmont on' Saturday, and he is preferred among them. Iloyal Finance and Singer are also not without a chance. The winner should come from Arikira and Orapai.
