SYDNEY MARKET "VERY FIRM"
v -; ' ■ SYDNEY, lOtlr February. • At the wool sales to-day the offerings totalled 10,597 bales, of which 10,309 were sold at auction, also 289 bales sold privately. There was a very strong1 market. Competition was spirited all round, especially on Continental and Japanese account. Greasy merino sold tup to 27d. Offerings on Monday totalled 11.081, of which 10,505 bales were sold, also 1918 privately; The average price for the wool sold in Sydney market last week was B.Bd a pound. There, was a good general competition. The market was very firm with a hardening tendency. Greasy merino made 21% d. Evidently the tone of the merino market is improving.
