At least four men were too badly burned for identification, and over eighty-five horses killed, when fire destroyed the Oakland Horse Show buildings. Practically all the prize-winners, it is feared, were killed. Tho scene of the fire was a terrible uproar. Burning horses screamed with agony. Some broke, through the flaming walls and dashed off with manes and tails afire. The police stood outside and shot them as they appeared.
