THE RACE FOR RECORDS

CAMPBELL'S OPINION

(Received 9th February, 11 a.m.)

DAYTONA, Bth February.

"Motor-car speed will never equal aeroplane speed," said Captain Campbell, jivhile packing to return home, "for the simple reason that you cannot build a car that is stable enough and stream* lined enough,! and because* there is not known course suitable to permit a land speed that can ever approach the possible aeroplano speed. Given sufficient money to build a proper car and perfect course, I could drive that machine at a speed equal to the present world's aeroplane record, but with the sama money put into an aeroplane I could fly infinitely faster."
