Norsewood.—The earthquake at Norsewood was the- most severe over felt in the district.- There wereboin■juries, but practically all chimneys came down and articles on shelves wero^ strewn about the rooms in confusion. ■ Makotuku.—ln addition to bringing down a few chimneys at Makotuku, tho earthquake opened up fissures in tho roadway near tho bridge. Otherwise very little damage was -done. Takapau.—Eight through the* Takapau district the earthquake left a train of wreckage at Ashley-Clinton, Otawhao, South Makaretu, and Marakekc, while Takapau township suffered severely. Principal damage was caused by falling chimneys, and many watertanks burst. There were no injuries to life or limb. ■ Waipawa. —The beautiful clock tower memorial at Waipawa is intact, according to Dr. Agnes Bennett, who has iust returned from Hawkes Bay. She found great cracks all along tho riverbank, and tho town itself half wrecked.
